Why Create a Blog?
Debtntaxes was created by me to track our progress of becoming debt free. From this blog, I plan on discussing any and everything to do with money, budgeting, investing, and pretty much anything else I want or care to discuss.
What is the Goal?
The main goal for me is to become debt free. I hate borrowing money. So the goal is to pay down our debt, our mortgage and then create a savings that will handle anything that should come up. I want this blog to be able to help people with their finances, and vice versa. I like to read comments and other financial blogs to see what others are thinking.
Who am I?
I am a 27-year-old male, am married with no kids. My wife and I have been married for 3 years. I have no background in finances and do not have a financial degree. Most of my knowledge about finances came from books and other people’s experiences. I love to watch and trade the stock market. It is complex but simple.
Other Things (non-financial) about Me:
I am obsessed with motocross. I love the feeling of lining up at the gates, letting the anticipation build, the roaring of the bikes as the gates are about to be dropped. It is my favorite part of the race.
I love the outdoors. The wife and I like to hike (the dog loves it too). We love visiting waterfalls, which is awesome considering we have so many around us in Upper Michigan. We also like to go camping, and by camping I mean out in the woods, away from electricity, preferably next to rivers and away from paved roads.
I am a veteran of the military. I served from Sept 2003 to Sept 2009 including one tour to the desert back in 05′. This is one part of my life that I am truly grateful for. The military taught me so much and I’ve made some awesome friends along the way. It was an experience I wouldn’t give up for anything.
I will probably add more to this along the way, but this is the start.
